And That’s No Lie.

A sermon for Christ’s Church at Monticello March 4, 2007
Gregg A. Nydegger

John 17:17
17    "Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.

John 14:6
6    Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.

John 1:1-5, 14
1    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2    He was in the beginning with God.
3    All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
4    In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5    And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

14    And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Philippians 2:5-8
5    Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
6    who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7    but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
8    And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

John 14:9
9    Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, `Show us the Father'?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16    All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17    that the man of God may be adequate equipped for every good work.

Matthew 7:22-23
22    "Many will say to Me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
23    "And then I will declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'

Luke 13:27-28
27    and He will say, `I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you evildoers.'
28    "There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth there when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being cast out.

John 10:9
9    "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Acts 4:12
12    "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved."

Romans 9:33
33    just as it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed."

Matthew 13:57
57    And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his home town, and in his own household."

Hebrews 4:12-13
12    For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13    And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

1 Corinthians 14:8
8    For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?

1 Corinthians 1:23-25
23    but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness,
24    but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25    Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Romans 1:16-17.
16    For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
17    For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith."

1 Corinthians 9:16b
16b    . . . .for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.

2 Timothy 4:2-4
2    preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
3    For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires;
4    and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.

1 Timothy 4:16
16    Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things; for as you do this you will insure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.

2 Timothy 2:15
15    Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

John 4:23-24
23    "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
24    "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
